February 22, 2016

1/22/2016: From social media platforms to online citizen petitions, the modern-day White House leverages new platforms to not only broadcast out communications to U.S. Citizens 24/7, but also uses these platforms to listen to the concerns of citizens.   Keeping things personal is important, as many constituents still prefer to share their thoughts on paper and over the phone.

This transformation is being led by former Silicon Valley executives focused on pushing innovation and open communication in the fast-paced world of social and digital media.

Special thanks to Jason Goldman, Megan Smith, Fiona Reeves, Hope Hall and the entire White House Digital team.

CORRECTION 1/23/16: Megan Smith’s title was mislabelled as ‘White House Chief Technology Officer’ – the correct title should be ‘United States Chief Technology Officer’.
