Stanislav Shalunov is the co-founder and chief technology officer of Open Garden, the San Francisco-based company behind FireChat. Shalunov talks to AJ+ about how FireChat became a hit with Hong Kong’s protesters since the messaging app can work without cell service or Wi-Fi. FireChat uses “mesh networking,” a technique Shalunov says could be key to how we connect digitally in the future.
