Ed Harwood is Founder and Chief Technology Officer of AeroFarms, a company that owns and operates aeroponic farms. AeroFarms uses proprietary urban farming technology that employs cloth and LEDs in a closed system devoid of pesticides, sunlight and soil. The company researches light impacts on plants, organoleptic preferences for leafy greens, and integration of the equipment into science education. Previously Ed was the Associate Director of Cornell Cooperative Extension and was responsible for identifying cutting-edge agricultural technologies. Harwood’s goals in the workshop are to expand on the impact and opportunities of commercial totally controlled growing systems and the implications for disintermediating current agriculture.
