We interview L.A. County Sheriff candidate, Chief Jim McDonnell.

Chief Jim McDonnell of the Long Beach Police Department previously served as second-in-command at the LAPD.

A proven and respected local, state and national criminal justice leader, he is the immediate past president of the L.A. County Police Chiefs’ Association, former president of the California Peace Officers’ Association, and serves on the California Commission on Peace Officers’ Standards & Training.

McDonnell served on the Citizens’ Commission on Jail Violence, an independent panel that conducted a yearlong investigation issuing 63 recommendations for reform.

After witnessing firsthand the need for new leadership, Chief McDonnell entered the race for L.A. County Sheriff.
