An Interview with Dirk Breynaert, 2015 SSPI Hall of Fame Inductee

On March 17, SSPI inducted Dirk Breynaert, the co-founder and chief technology officer of Newtec, into the Satellite Hall of Fame. It was my first chance to meet this remarkable man, who has worked miracles in data compression and data standards business for satellite, playing a leadership role in developing the DVB standard and its many advances. He and his team also created new modulation technologies that are powering more than 130,000 satellite broadband terminals for SES. He also had the smarts and humility to turn the CEO role over the Serge Van Herck and become CTO, so he could spend his time developing breakthroughs in throughput. He is not as well known as he should be, and we hope we can help to change that.
