January 9, 2016

SETH ANDREW
Senior Adviser to the Chief Technology Officer of the United States

Andrew helps lead the Obama Administration’s efforts to promote, improve and diversify STEM education. Previously, he served as Senior Advisor to Secretary Arne Duncan and Superintendent in Residence at the U.S. Department of Education with a focus on education technology.

In 2005, he founded and then served as teacher, principal and superintendent of Democracy Prep, a network of 17 public charter schools in New York, New Jersey and Washington, D.C. Under the slogan, “Work Hard. Go to College. Change the World,” Democracy Prep charter schools focus on civic education and are designed to serve all students, including those with special needs.

At the Department of Education and the White House, Andrew has helped advocate for more access to critical technologies for poor and rural schools, as a means to improve students’ academic performance as well as prepare them with the skills they will need to compete and succeed in the 21st century workplace.
