Top Burundi army officer and his wife gunned down in Bujumbura

A top army officer has been shot dead with his wife in the capital Bujumbura. Brigadier General Athanase Kararuza was ambushed by gunmen as he dropped his daughter at school. He was a senior security adviser to the vice president Gaston Sindimwo [TAKE VO] It’s the latest in a series of attacks in the city. Over the weekend, Burundi’s human rights minister and his wife were wounded in a grenade blast as they left church.
