Michael Smith is Chief Digital Officer (CDO), Forbes Media and President of Forbes.com. In this role Mr. Smith oversees all Forbes IT departments, which include IT Systems, Multi-Platform Development and Digital Strategy. He is also responsible for the Forbes Media Exchange (FMX) which provides the reach and efficiency of a demand platform, plus the value of the Forbes Brand. He is also responsible for audience sales via auctions including trading desks, advertising operations, data & analytics, and yield management. Prior to joining Forbes.com as Chief Technology Officer, he was Vice President and Chief Information Officer at TheStreet.com, where he directed their technology efforts, including application development, network engineering, website operations, global technology initiatives and business support systems. Prior to that, he held several positions at HBO, including Director of Information Technology.

In the spirit of ideas worth spreading, TEDx is a program of local, self-organized events that bring people together to share a TED-like experience. At a TEDx event, TEDTalks video and live speakers combine to spark deep discussion and connection in a small group. These local, self-organized events are branded TEDx, where x = independently organized TED event.
