Advanced technologies are developing to counter human trafficking on the Internet, which is used by traffickers to sexually exploit victims. Seventy-five percent of underage sex trafficking victims said they were advertised or sold online.
The McCain Institute previously explored how technology can aid law enforcement in rescuing victims and prosecuting sex buyers and traffickers. The conversation continues as commercial sexual exploitation transitions to Tor and the dark web.
On Tuesday, March 1, 2016, The McCain Institute hosted the seventh installment in the Human Trafficking Conversation Series, “Cyber Threats Part II: A Conversation on Trafficking and Technology.” This conversation contributed to The McCain Institute’s efforts to #EndTrafficking.
